QuestionAnswer
Science A way of learning about the natural world through observations and reasoning.
Observing Using sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell to gather information.
Infering To explain or interpret things you observe.
Predicting Making a gues of what will happen in the future based on experience.
Scientific inquiry The many ways wich scietists study the natural world and creat explanations based on evednce.
Hypotesis A possible explanation for a set of observations or ancer a question.
Controlled experiment A test of a hypothesis under conditions established by the scientist.
Variable A factor that can be changed in an experiment.
Manipulated variable The variable that a scientist changes in an experiment.
Responding Variable The variable that changes because of the manipulated variable.
Data information from observations.
Scientific theory A well-tested Scientific concept that explains a wide range of observations.
Scientific law Describes an observed pattern in nature, but does not provide an explanation for it.
Earth science The study of Earth.
System A group of parts that work together as a whole.
Energy The ability to do work or cause change.
Constructive force A force that shapes Earth's serface by building up mountains and landmasses.
Destructive force A force that slowly wears away mountains and every other feature on Earth's surface.
Geologist Scientists who study the forces that have shaped Earth throughout its long history.
Oceanographer Scientists who study everything from the oceans water to the shape of the ocean floor to living things in the ocean's depths.
Meteorologist Scientists who gather information about conditions in the atmosphere from around the world.
Astronomer Scientists who studys the focus on the solar system, stars, and galaxies.
Environmental scientist Scientists who studys hunans efect on Earth's environmentand resources.
Technology How people modify the world around them to meet their needs or to solve practical problems.
Engineer A person who is trained to use technological and scientific knoledge to solve problems.
