What is oxidation? When a chemical reacts with oxygen e.g. Iron + oxygen = Iron oxide
What is combustion? When something burns using heat fuel and oxygen shown in the combustion triangle
What is thermal decomposition? A chemical reaction that occurs when a compound breaks down due to heat
What is a solvent A substance that the solute dissolves into
What is a solute The thing that dissolves into the solvent
What is a solution The final result of the solute dissolving into the solvent
What does saturated mean The bit of the solute that does not dissolve into the solvent
What are 5 properties of a metal Shiny, good conductors of heat, good conductors of electricity, ductile and malleable
What are 5 properties of a non metal Dull, bad conductors of heat, bad conductors of electricty, Brittle and not ductile
What elements travel in pairs Nitrogen, Hydrogen , fluorine, oxygen, Iodine
What are two common compounds H2O, CO2
what is in the combustion triangle Heat fuel and oxygen
what are the atoms like in a liquid Touching but can easily flow past each other
what are the atoms like in a solid Tightly compacted so they can not move but only vibrate
What are the atoms like in a gas All over the place and not touching and very spaced out
What is liquid to solid called Freezing
What is solid to liquid melting
What is liquid to gas evaporation
What is gas to liquid Condensation
What is solid to gas sublimation
What is gas to solid sublimation
