SCDs Sequential Compression Devices used post operatively to help prevent blood clots (DVTs) in the legs
TEDs therapeutic hose used with SCDs to help prevent blood clots (DVTs) in the legs. Encourages circulation
TTWB Toe Touch Weight Bearing - status for orthopedic patients that determines how much weight patient can place on the affected limb
Gait Belt belt applied to patient during ambulation to help provide support and prevent falls
FWW Front Wheeled Walker - used for support when ambulating patients and help prevent falls
NWB Non Weight Bearing - the patient is not allowed to put any weight on this limb
ad lib patient is not a fall risk and is able to ambulate independently as desired
SBA stand by assistance is required to provide support and prevent falls
min assist minimum assistance of one person to provide some support in ambluation and ADLS to prevent falls
max assist maximum assistance of 2 or more people with assistive devices, or lifting equipment to ensure safety
bed rest patient should not get out of bed
