Kinetics/Equilibrium
vocab 9
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Activation Energy | The minimum energy need that colliding patricles must have in order to react |
Collision Theroy | Atoms, ions, and molecules can react to form products when they collide if the particles have enough kinetic energy |
Entropy | A measure of the disorder of a system |
Law of Disorder | States that the natural tendency is for systems to move in the direction of increasing disorder or randomness |
LeChatlier's Principle | If a stress is applied to a system dynamic equilibrium, the system changes in a way that relieves the stress. Stresses that upset the equilibrium of a system include changes in concentration of reactants or products, temperature, and pressure. |
Spontanaeous Reaction | Occurs naturally and favors the formation of product at the stated condition |
Non-Spontanaeoud Reaction | A chemical reaction that does not favor the formation of product at the stated condition. |
