| Overload | Перегрузка. Operating conditions in an electrically undamaged circuit which cause an over-current. |
| Short-circuit | The accidental or intentional connection, by a relatively low resistance or impedance, of two or more points in a circuit which are normally at different voltages. |
| Residual current (I∆) | Дифференциальный ток. It is the vectorial sum of the currents flowing in the main circuit of the circuit_breaker. |
| Rated operational voltage (Ue) | Номинальное рабочее напряжение. voltage which determines the application of the equipment. Ui>Ue |
| Rated insulation voltage (Ui ) | Номинальное импульсное выдерживаемое напряжение. voltage to which dielectric tests voltage and creepage distances are referred. Ui>Ue |
| Rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp ) | The peak value of an impulse voltage of prescribed form and polarity which the equipment is capable of withstanding without failure under specified conditions of test. |
| Rated frequency | The supply frequency for which an equipment is designed and to which the other characteristic values correspond. |
| Rated residual operating current (I∆n ) | Номинальный отключающий диф.ток. It is the r.m.s. value of a sinusoidal residual operating current at which the CBR shall operate under specified conditions. |

| Rated breaking capacity | Номинальный отключающий ток. the equipment can satisfactorily break, under specified breaking conditions |
| Rated making capacity | Номинальный включающий ток. equipment can satisfactorily make under specified making conditions. |
| Rated uninterrupted current (In ) | circuit-breaker can carry during uninterrupted service |
| Rated ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu ) | Номинальная предельная отключающая способность. maximum short-circuit current value which the circuit-breaker can break twice (open-time-open-close), at the corresponding rated operational voltage. |
| Rated service short-circuit breaking capacity (Ics) | Номинальная рабочая отключающая способность. short-circuit current value which the circuit-breaker can break three times (open-time-close.open-time-close.open) at a defined rated operational voltage (Ue) and at a defined power factor (cos f). |
| Rated short-time withstand current (Icw ) | Ном. кратковременно выдерживаемый ток. circuit-breaker shall be able to carry this current during the associated short-time delay ( under prescribed conditions of use and behaviour) in order to ensure discrimination between the circuit-breakers in series. |
| Rated short-circuit making capacity (Icm ) | Номинальная рабочая включающая способность. is the value of short_circuit making capacity assigned at Ue, f , cos f for ac. |
