Words of the Week 9

TermDefinition
target (verb) select as an object of attention or attack. "They decided to target the tree to practice their shooting."
cart (noun) strong open vehicle with 2 or 4 wheels used to carry loads. "Bring the cart to put the shopping bags."
sharp (adjective) something having an edge or a point able to cut. "The knife was so sharp that it cut the meat at once."
perfect (adjective) to have all the required elements. "It is a perfect morning for a picnic at the park."
finger (noun) each of the five jointed parts attached to both hands. "It is not polite to point your finger at people."
thunder (noun) a loud rumbling noise heard after lightning. "We heard the thunder so close to the house that it made us jump."
dirty (adjective) covered or marked with an unclean substance. "The dog was so dirty that he looked gray instead of white."
first (adjective) coming before all others in order. "She won first place at the baking competition."
thirty (adjective) number equal to 3 times 10. "It has been thirty years since the last hurricane hit our town."
corn (noun) a cereal plant with large kernels. "My mom uses real corn to make popcorn."
forty (noun) a number equal to 4 times 10. "My brother turned forty years old last week."
storm (noun) violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and rain. "The storm brought such strong winds that the little barn was blown away."
turkey (noun) large non-flying bird prized as food. "My grandma made a big turkey for Christmas."
burn (verb) produce flames and heat while consuming a flammable material. "He had to burn the old clothes."
purple (adjective) something that is a color between red and blue. "The purple shirt was 30% off the price."
