Bones: roles Protects the organs, storage for calcium, factory for blood cells.
Bones: influences Diet, hormones and physical health
Textures Cancellous ( spongy) bone Compact bone
Cancellous bone Main factory for red blood cells
Compact bone Hard and dense
Bone type Long, short flat, irregular.
Long bone one: : DIAPHYSIS = shaft of the bone, contains fat and is yellow in color
Long bone two: EPIPHYSES = ends have compact bone on the exterior , joint surface is covered with a thin layer of cartilage and contains growth plates for bone
Long bone three: PERIOSTEUM (membrane) = a membrane that covers the external surface of the bone
Short bones: contains some marrow , consists of thin plates of compact bone
Flat bones: Location for red marrow , for diseaes and condition e.g anaemia, leukaemia
Irregular bones: Not like the others.
Bone remodelling: step 1 1. Bone is deposited and absorbed in response to hormonal and mechanical stimuli
Bone remodeling: step 2 2. Osteoblasts to lay down the bone.
Bone remodelling: step 3 3. Calcium levels decline, and PTH stimulates osteoclasts to digest marrow that releases ionic calcium, which again stimulates the removal of calcium from the blood
Bone remodelling: step 4 4.Stress + Gravity strengthen the bones
