Mocap Terminology

synchronization the process by which a signal change common to all camera views and analog signals is used to match them in time
tracking volume the area of the capture space in which the Vicon cameras are able to capture the motion of specified
A-pose a form of the neutral anatomical pose used when capturing a static trial
static triall a short data capture during which the subject stands in a neutral pose
subject the target of a trial whose motion is being captured or analyzed by a Vicon system
rotation movement about a specified axis
digital video interface (DVI) video interface standard designed to provide very high visual quality on digital display devices
data groups of Information stored in digital form
gaffer tape tough, cotton cloth pressure sensitive tape used to secure cables to the floor
dongle an electronic device that must be attached to a computer in order for it to use protected software
Video Graphics Array (VGA) connector a 15-pin connector used solely to carry analog component video signals
system file A universal file format which contains the configuration settings for the Vicon system hardware
threshold grid a pattern of regularly spaced horizontal and vertical lines superimposed over the image displayed in a camera view pane
Light Emitting Diode (LED) an electronic device that lights up when electricity is passed through it
tracking volume the area of the capture space in which Vicon cameras are able to capture a specific motion
static calibration object a frame used for setting the global coordinate system in the capture volume
