Anastrophe | The order of the noun and the adjective in the sentence is exchanged to create a dramatic effect. “The path to the dark side, fear is.” - Master Yoda |
Anthropomorphism | Attributing human characteristics to an animal or inanimate object. Sometimes used interchangeably with personification but usually refers to animals behaving like people. |
Aphorism | A statement of truth or opinion expressed in a concise and witty manner. All that glitters is not gold. |
Aside | An actor's speech, directed to the audience, that is not heard by other actors on stage. Usually a brief comment rather than a speech. |
