semi-permeable membrane a layer that only certain molecules can pass though
small intestine part of the intestine that runs between the stomach and large intestine
starch complex carbohydrate, large food molecule
villi small fingerlike structures in the small intestine that have tiny openings to absorb food molecules
digestion a chemical reaction to break down food
tissue group of cells working together
fiber very large food molecule, complex but cannot break down
