What is the water cycle? The pattern water travels through by going back and forth from the atmosphere to Earth's surface.
What is humidity? The amount of water vapor in the air.
What is a cirrus cloud? A cloud made of ice crystals that looks feathery.
What is a cumulus cloud? A cotton like cloud that you can find between 2 and 15 kilometers above the ground.
What is a stratus cloud? A low, thin, spread out cloud.
What is a psychrometer? A tool that measures relative humidity.
What is relative humidity? The amount of vapor in the air compared to the amount the air can hold.
What is the dew point? The temperature that condensation begins.
What is condensation? The process in which gas turns to water.
What is a meteorologist? A person that studies weather.
What is are isobars? Lines joining places on a map showing equal air pressure.
What is are isotherms? Lines joining places with equal temperature.
What is a rain forest? A forest that is very humid year round.
What is a humid subtropical climate? A wet and warm climate found on the edges of tropics.
What is a subtropic climate? Places where there are short, cold summers with long, cold winters.
What is a tundra? A region with freezing winters and short summers.
What is permafrost? Frozen soil in a tundra.
What is a microclimate? A small area that has a different climate than the area around it.
What is a tropical zone? A region that receives direct sunlight or nearly direct sunlight all year round near the equator.
What is a polar zone? Region where the sun's rays strike at a low angle near the poles.
What is a temperature zone? Area between the polar and tropical zones.
What are marine climates? Region with cool summers and mild winters.
What are continental climates? Regions with extreme climates.
What is a windward side? The side of mountains that wind hits.
What is the leeward side? The of a mountain where the rain shadow is.
