Nativism Biased toward or favoring the interests of native-born American citizens

Joint resolution A statement passed by both houses of legislature that has the force of law
Reservation Land set aside for native Americans
Ratify To approve formally
Envoy A person who is sent by one government to represent it in dealing with another government
Change Often government leaders must "revise" the terms of a compromise
Move When boundaries "shift" new maps may need to be drawn
Obtain Ranchers can increase their herd if they "acquire" more cattle
Take part Government leaders often "participate" in heated debates over new laws
Left Many settlers "abandoned" their homes before moving to Texas
