Standard aligned terms and definitions for Unit 6: Legendary Journeys

TermDefinition
Line A row of words in a poem or story.
Stanza A group of lines that go together in a poem.
Theme The message or lesson in a story or poem.
Response How the character reacts or answers something.
Compare To see how things are similar.
Contrast To see how things are different.
Plot The order of events in a story.
Summarize To tell the main parts in a shorter way. Make sure to include the protagonist(s), conflict, and resolution.
Rhyme When words sound the same, especially at the end.
Poem A piece of writing that uses words in a special way to express feelings or ideas.
Narrator The person telling the story.
Event Something that happens, especially something important or interesting.
Reaction How the character feels or does after an event.
Speaker The one talking in a poem or story.
Speaker's POV How the person narrating sees or thinks about things.
Contribute To add or help with something.
Protagonist The main character in a story, often the one the reader follows and cheers for.
Conflict The problem or struggle between characters or forces in a story.
Resolution The solution or outcome that brings an end to the conflict in a story.
