At risk for renal calculi previous hx, family hx, male, dehydration, immobility, high Ca, oxalate or PRO intake, gout, hyperparathyroidism, urinary stasis, repeated infections
sturvite stones from UTI, with urease produsing bacteria (Proteus) large, can fill renal pelvis and calyces, also called staghorn stones
Uric Acid stones increased uric acid in urine (gout)
what is a low purine diet for uric acid stones
nsg care pre IVP ask re: iodine/seafood/hx contrast allergy, bowl prep, usually NPO noc before
IVP shows kidney, ureter and bladder structure
post IVP burning on urination 1-2 days after, bloody urine for first 3 voids, call Dr for bright red urine, decreased OP, abd/flank pain, chills, fever, increase fluids, may use laxative after to rid of barium
How can you acidify urine 2 glasses cran. juice/day, Vit. C, avoid excess milk, other juice and baking soda
