Who ruled over early Rome before Rome became a republic? The Etruscans ruled over early Rome.
What was the senate's relationship to the consuls? The senate advised the consuls.
What classes divided Rome? Rome was divided into patricians, the higher class, and plebeians, the lower class.
What class was the majority of the population of Rome? The plebeians made up 95% of Rome.
Why did plebeians want the laws published? The plebeians wanted the Twelve Tables inscribed so the patricians couldn't change the laws at will.

What were 2 places Rome conquered during the second period of expansion? Possible answers : North Africa, much of Spain, the island of Sicily, Macedonia and Greece.
Why did Augustus push the borders of Roman territory to rivers? The borders were pushed because the natural boundaries were easier to defend.
Who did Rome fight to gain control of the Mediterranean Sea? Rome fought Carthage, a city state in North Africa.
In how many Punic wars did Rome fight Carthage? Rome and Carthage fought in 3 different Punic wars.
Why was it bad for the plebeians to have so many enslaved people in the city of Rome? It was bad because the enslaved people took jobs like working on farms which left the plebeians unemployed.

What would Romans leave for a god when someone was sick or hurt? They would bring a small offering in the shape of the hurt body part.
How did Rome treat Christianity? At first people were persecuted for believing in one god, whereas Rome had a polytheistic belief system, but later, Christianity became the official religion of Rome.
What would happen if the father didn't approve of a baby? The baby would be left outside to either die or be claimed by someone and enslaved.
At the height of Rome, how many citizens did Rome have? When the Roman Empire was at its height in 100 C.E., it had 50 million citizens.
What place in Rome was considered the center of Rome? The Forum was known as the center of Rome. The Forum was home to merchant stall but later, many government buildings.
Lesson 25
Why was a large Roman military bad of Roman citizens? The citizens had to pay large taxes to finance such a large army.
What does historians call Roman art inspired by Greek art? Historians coined the term “Greco-Roman” art to describe this style of art.
What are 3 languages that developed from Latin? Possible answers: Spanish, French, Romanian, Portuguese, and Italian.
What kind of philosophy did most of Rome follow? Many Romans followed a philosophy known as Stoicism.
What 2 important US documents were influenced by Roman ideas about law and government.? The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were influenced by Roman ideas about law and government.
