Energy transformation Energy transformations are processes that convert energy from one type (e.g., kinetic, gravitational potential, chemical energy) into another.
Law of conservation of energy The law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed - only converted from one form of energy to another.
Efficiency the ability to achieve an end goal with little to no waste, effort, or energy
Kinetic theory of matter all matter is composed of small particles which have space between them and are in random motion
Temperature degree of hotness or coldness measured by a thermometer with a numerical scale
Degree the amount, level, or extent to which something happens or is present.
Thermometer an instrument that measures temperature.
Thermal energy the energy contained within a system that is responsible for its temperature
Heat energy that is transferred from one body to another as the result of a difference in temperature
Calorie a unit of energy or heat
Conduction when heat moves from one object to another object through direct touch
Conductor a material or object that permits an electric current to flow easily
Insulator A material or an object that does not easily allow heat, electricity, light, or sound to pass through it
Convection a way in which heat travels
Radiation energy that comes from a source and travels through space at the speed of light.
