speed | How far an object moves in a given time. |
velocity | The speed of an object in a certain direction. |
Newton's 1st Law of Motion | The law of inertia and mass. |
inertia | The resistance of an object to any change in motion, including a change in direction. |
force | a push or pull that causes an object to move, stop, or change direction. |
newton | A unit of measure of force applied to an object. |
balanced force | When two opposite and equal forces are acting on an object. |
unbalanced force | When two forces acting on an object are not equal. |
motion | The act or process of moving from one place to another. |
gravity | An invisible force that pulls an object toward the center of the earth. |
weight | The measure of the force of gravity on an object. |
pressure | A force that pushes or pulls on something. |
Newton's 2nd Law of Motion | The law of acceleration. |
acceleration | When speed increases. |
deceleration | When speed decreases. |
momentum | The amount of force in a moving object is determined by the object's mass and speed. |
friction | A force that slow the movement of an object. |
action | The act or process of doing something. |
reaction | An opposing action. |
recoil | A kickback from a discharge. |
potential energy | Energy stored by an object due to its position. |
kinetic energy | Energy an object has due to its motion. |
Newton's 3rd Law of Motion | The law of opposite. |
energy | The ability to do work or cause a change. |
chemical energy | A form of potential energy that is stored in the bond between atoms and molecules. |
