TermDefinition
Energy transformation Takes place when energy changes from one form into another form.
Law of conservation of energy The law conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed.
Efficiency the ratio of useful output energy to input energy.
Kinetic theory of matter states that all of the particles that make up matter are constantly in motion.
Temperature a measure of the average kinetic energy of all the particles
Degree are equally spaced units between two points.
Thermometer Thermometer is an instrument for temp.
Thermal energy is the total kinetic energy of all particles in a substance.
Heat is the energy transferred from an object at a higher temp to an object at a lower temp.
Calorie is equal to the amount of energy needed to raise the temp of 1 g of water by 1 c.
Conduction the transfer of energy as heat from one substance to another through direct contact.
Conductor is a material that transfers heat very well.
Insulator is a material is a poor conductor of heat.
Convection is the transfer of energy as heat by the moment of a liquid or gas.
Radiation is the transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves.
