What is Neutrality NEUTRALITY involves not fighting in a war and not supporting either side.
Why Was Ireland Neutral Ireland was neutral because: Ireland wanted to continue to show its independence from Britain. Ireland was ill-prepared to fight in a war. Ireland’s economy was weak and would be further damaged by war.
What Countries Did Ireland Favour Even Tho They Were Neutral while Ireland was officially neutral, the government did favour the Allies – Britain, France and the United States.
What was the Emergency Powers Act Newspapers were strictly censored: they could not share any news that might show a bias towards any side. Plays, poetry and books were also censored. Even people’s post could be opened and examined if the government felt the need to do so.
