Herbicide Any chemical that destroys a plant
Hydroelectric Energy Production of energy by using running water
Industrialization When a country develops a large manufacturing capacity
Insecticide A chemical that specifically destroys insects
Invasive Species A plant or animal not native to an area that has a tendency to spread, causing damage to the environment, human economy or human health
Ozone Layer Layer of ozone in the upper atmosphere that absorbs ultraviolet light
Pesticide Any chemical that destroys a pest
Pollution Introduction of a substance by humans into the environment that has harmful or poisonous effects
Recycling Reusing materials instead of discarding them as wastes
Sewage Treatment When liquid and solid wastes are purified
Solar Energy Energy that comes from the sun
Cause Something that brings about a result or condition
Effect An event or condition that is produced by a cause
Mining The process of removing rocks/minerals from the Earth
Impact A strong effect
