Skeletal system The framework of bones that provides support, shape, and protection for the body.
Nervous system The complex network of nerves and cells that transmit signals between different parts of the body
Protection The act of keeping someone or something safe from harm or danger.
Brain The organ inside the skull that controls the body's functions, thoughts, and emotions.
Spinal cord The long, thin bundle of nerves that extends from the base of the brain to the lower back and carries signals between the brain and the rest of the body
Muscle contractions The tightening and shortening of muscles, which generates force and allows movement.
Digestion The process by which the body breaks down food into smaller molecules that can be absorbed and used for energy
Muscular system The system of muscles in the body that allows movement and provides support.
Small intestine The long, narrow tube in the digestive system where most of the digestion and absorption of nutrients takes place..
Cardiovascular system The network of blood vessels, including the heart, that transports oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and waste products throughout the body.
Homeostasis The ability of an organism or system to maintain a stable internal environment despite external changes. A cell in its happy place .
Excretory system The system in the body responsible for removing waste products and excess fluids from the body.
Respiratory system The organs and tissues involved in the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the body and the environment.
Tendons Strong, flexible bands of connective tissue that attach muscles to bones.
Epiglottis A flap of cartilage in the throat that prevents food and liquid from entering the windpipe during swallowing.
