Aqueduct A pipe or channel used to carry water from a distant source to dry areas.
Polytheism The belief in or worship of more than one god.
Aztec Ancient Civilization of the Western Hemisphere Capital City: Tenochtitlan Time Period: 1100s-1521
Inca Ancient Civilization of the Western Hemisphere Capital City: Cuzco Time Period: 1200s-1500s
Maya Ancient Civilization of the Western Hemisphere Capital City: Tikal Time Period: 300 AD- 900AD?
Civilization The way of life of a group of people.
Irrigation Supplying dry land, or crops, with water.
Maize Both the plant and the kernel of corn
Terracing The make of, on sloping land, large flat areas for farming that have the appearance of steps.
Fiesta A festival or a celebration.
Mesoamerica Region of Southern Mexico and Central America that was occupied in ancient times by people of similar cultural features (Mayans and Aztecs).
Empire A large group of nations or people under a single supreme authority.
Elevation The height above sea level.
