Augustine De Iturbide The leader of the monarchists.
Achieve To do or accomplish.
Anti-Monarchist Deeply committed to both liberty and equality.
Plan of Iguala The plan that Mexico would become independent.
Treaty of Cordoba People who made Mexico officially independent.
San Antonio Named after missionary Antonio.
La Bahia Now called Goliad, TX one of last mission-presidios.

Erasmo Seguin A settler of San Antonio he took up Texas under the new colonization.

Moses Austin was an important early empresario. He received a contract in 1820 to settle family's Texas.

Stephen F. Austin Was the son of Moses Austin and the most to prominent empresario of Mexican Texas. He brought more than 1,000 families to Texas in the 1820s.

Militia A group of armed citizens who serve as soldiers in an emergency.

Republic of Fredonia The name Haden Edwards gave to Texas after he declared in an independent nation in 1826.

Tejano People with Mexican ancestry that lived in Texas.
Martin de Leon Was the only Mexican emparsario to establish a settlement in Texas. He named the settlement Guadalupe Victoria.
Green Dewitt Was a Texas empresario who started his own settlement in 1825. He brought 400 families to the area of the Lavaca, San Marcos, and Guadalupe rivers.
