Coastal Migration Theory An idea that early humans might have used boats to sail from Asia to North America.
Early Human The group of creatures that eventually evolved into humans.
Great Rift Valley (Africa) The place where early humans developed.
Hunter-Gatherer Groups of people who hunted and looked for their food in nature.
Land Bridge Theory An idea that early humans might have crossed the Bering Land Bridge to get to North America
Migration A large group moving from one place to another.
Nomadic Moving from place to place following sources of food.
Agriculture Farming
Climate The weather and temperature of a location.
Culture The lifestyle, beliefs, food, clothing, music, and customs of a group of people.
Environment What nature is like in a place.
Foraging Looking for your food in nature.
Indigenous Native Americans
Iroquois Confederacy A group of Native American tribes that came together to create peace and better lives for their people.
Longhouse A style of Native American home made of long logs that more than one family would live in.
Native American The people who lived in North and South America before the arrival of Europeans.
Region A large area with something in common.
Teepee A style of Native American home made of animal skins and poles that could be packed up and moved.
Tribe A group of Native Americans living and working together under a leader.
Three Sisters A group of crops (corn, beans, and squash) that was a source of food to many Native American tribes.
Wigwam A style of Native American home made of branches and tree bark.
