Term | Definition |

Heat | energy stored inside something |
Conduction | the transfer of heat from a warmer substance to a cooler one |
Convection | movement in a gas or liquid in which the warmer parts move up and the cooler parts move down |
Radiation | energy that comes from a heat source in the form of waves or rays you cannot see |
Temperature | a measurement that indicates how hot or cold something is |
Transfer | to move from one place to another |
Thermal heat energy | total amount of kinetic and potential energies in the molecules of a substance |
Electromagnetic Waves | waves traveling through space carrying electromagnetic radiant energy. |
Expand | the act of growing larger |
Conductor | a material that is good at transmitting energy or electricity |
Contract | the act of shrinking smaller |
Insulator | a material that allows little or no heat, electricity, or sound to go into or out of something |
Cycle | a series of events that are regularly repeated in the same order |
Particles | a tiny piece; like dust |

Transmit | to pass on something from something/someone/place to another |
Density | how thick or tightly packed something is |
