Term | Definition |
---|---|
Comments | Begins with two dashes and a space and mark lines that are ignored by the computer. |
Definitions | Have a equal sign separating the word that is being defined, at the left (the head), from the expression that it stands for, at the right (the body) |
Keywords | Special words that are used to modify the way a computer program works. |
Identifiers | Names of variables or functions. |
Operators | Arithmetic terms such as +, -, *, and / |
Punctuation | Terms such as [ and ], ( and ), and comma. |
Literal data | Numbers such as 1 or text that is enclosed by double-quotes. |
Specification | A statement at the top of the input panel that specifies the purpose of the program (as a comment so it is ignored by the program). |
Documentation | A description of all the available libraries for your reference. |
Library | A collection of predefined functions. |
Import statement | Using the keyword Import followed by the name of the library being imported. Once the library is imported into the code, the programmer can use any function defined in that library. |
Hanging indent | Formatting of a paragraph, citation, or definition for which all lines except the first are indented. |
