TermDefinition
Units A quantity used as a unit of measure.
Variable A letter that represents an unknown number.
Axes The vertical reference line on a graph (y-axis) and the horizontal reference line on a graph (x-axis) that intersect at a right angle to make the coordinate grid.
Coordinates A set of values that give an exact position on the coordinate plane. (X, Y) refers to how many units in the X-direction and Y-direction.
Coordinate plane The plane containing the x and y-axis
Independent X, the input variable of a function.
Dependent Y, the output variable of a function.
Domain All the input values of a function, the set of X.
Range All the output values of a function, the set of Y.
Continuous Data that can take EVERY data point in range.
Discrete Data that can only take CERTAIN data points in range.
Correlation The relationship between a set of x and y values.
Scatterplot A graph of plotted points that shows a relationship between two variables.
Function A relationship where each input, X, has exactly one output, Y.
Positive Relationship The relationship where both variables are increasing, or both variables are decreasing.
Negative Relationship The relationship where one variable is decreasing, while the other is increasing.
Linear Relationship A relationship with a constant rate of change, when graphed it makes a straight line. A function with a first degree variable. (i.e. x)
Rate of Change The steepness of a linear situation, the change in y over the change in x.
Exponential Relationship A relationship of growth or decay. (i.e. y=3x).
Quadratic Relationship The relationship with a second degree variable (i.e. x2).

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
