Exponents REVEAL VOC
Voc and properties of exponents
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Base | The number being multiplied by itself. The number immediately before the exponent. |
Evaluate | Substitute the given number for the variable in the expression and then simplify |
Exponent | Shows the number of times the base is multiplied by itself. |
Power | The product of multiplying a number by itself. |
Reciprocal | You flip a fraction. When they are multiplied together they equal 1. Also called the multiplicative Inverse. |
Algebraic Expression | It is made up of variables and constants, along with operation signs. DOES NOT HAVE AN EQUAL SIGN |
Expanded Form | A way to write a number by adding the digits. Writing it out the long way. |
Exponential Notation | A way of writing numbers that include the coefficient, base and the EXPONENT! |
Scientific Notation | A method of expressing numbers in terms of a decimal number between 1 and 10 multiplied by the power of 10. |
Coefficient | A number used to multiply a variable. It is in front of the variable |
