QuestionAnswer
Box Plot a graph that shows how data are distributed by using the median, quartiles, minimum, and maximum
Categorical Data data that consists of nonnumeric information
Distribution the arrangement of values that show the spread of the data
Dot Plot a visual display in which each piece of data is represented by a dot above a number line
Frequency the number of times a data value occurs
Histogram a bar graph that shows the frequency of data within equal intervals
Interquartile Range the difference of the third and first quartiles in a data set, representing the middle half of the data
Mean the sum of the items in a set of data divided by the number of items in the set; AKA average
Median the middle number or the mean (average) of the two middle numbers in an ordered set of data
Mode the number or numbers that occur most frequently in a set of data
Numerical Data data in the form of numbers
Outlier a value much greater or much less than the others in a data set
Range in statistics, the difference between the greatest and least values in a data set
Statistical Question a question that has many different, or variable, answers
Statistics the branch of mathematics concerned with collecting, organizing, and interpreting data
