base | Any side of a triangle. The parallel sides of other polygons. The face that is perpendicular to the height |

composite figure | A shape made up of two or more other shapes |
cube | A rectangular prism with all congruent faces |
cubic unit | Used to measure volume |
dimensions | The measures of the size of an object |
edge | The intersection of two or more faces on a 3-dimensional figure |
face | A flat (planar) surface that forms part of the boundary of a solid object |
formula | An expression or equation used to calculate a value |
height | Perpendicular to the base of a polygon or polyhedron |
kite | A quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent congruent sides |
length | Distance between two points |
net | A 2-D shape that can be folded into a 3-D figure |
parallelogram | A quadrilateral with exactly 2 pairs of parallel and congruent sides |
perpendicular | Two lines that meet or cross to form 90 degree angles |
polygon | A closed plane shape made by line segments |
polyhedron | Any 3-D solid that has flat polygon faces |
pyramid | A polyhedron whose base is a polygon and whose other faces are triangles that share a common vertex |
quadrilateral | A polygon with 4 sides |
rectangle | A quadrilateral with 4 right angles |
rectangular prism | A solid (3-D) object which has six faces that are rectangles |
right triangle | A triangle that has exactly one 90 degree angle |
solid figure | A solid (3-dimensional) object |
square pyramid | A polyhedron whose base is a square and whose other faces are triangles that share a common vertex |
surface area | The sum of the areas of the faces and any curved surfaces of the figure that create the geometric solid |
trapezoid | A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides |
triangle | A polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles |
triangular prism | A prism where both parallel faces are triangles |
triangular pyramid | A pyramid with a triangular base |
vertex vertices | The point at which two or more segments, lines, or rays, meet to form an angle |
volume | The amount of space occupied by an object |
width | A measurement of distance |
