coordinate pair Describes the location of a single point on a grid
decreased Made something smaller
dependent variable A variable whose value is determined by the value of the related independent variable
difference The result when one number is subtracted from another OR how two amounts are not equal
equal A symbol showing that one amount is the same value as another amount
equation A mathematical sentence with an equal sign. The amount on one side of the equal sign has the same value as the amount on the other side
false Not according to truth or fact; incorrect, not true
formula An expression or equation used to calculate a value
graph A display of data
increased Made something larger
independent variable A variable in an equation that may have its value freely chosen without considering values of any other variable
inverse operations The opposite or reverse of something
line graph A graph that uses line segments to connect data points
ordered pair Describes the location of a single point on a grid
product The answer to a multiplicaion problem.
quotient The answer to a division problem
ratio table A table of values where there exists a constant ratio between the y- and the x-values
solution The value of a variable that makes the equation true
substitute To trade variable and/or numbers of equal value
sum The answer to an addition problem
true In agreement with all of the facts
unknown number/unknown value The missing value
value How much or how many
variable A letter or symbol that represents a number
