Central Nervous System The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord. It is one of 2 parts of the nervous system. The other part is the peripheral nervous system, which consists of nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.
synergists are muscles that contract at the same time as the prime mover. They facilitate or complement prime mover actions so that the prime mover produces a more effective movement.
cervix plexus a complex neurologic structure located within the head and neck. The large portion of the cervical plexus is the communication between the anterior divisions of C1 through C4 nerves.
NONADRENERGIC-NONCHOLINERGIC TRANSMISSION a part of the autonomic nervous system which does not use acetylcholine or noradrenaline as transmitters. NANC‐transmitters often function as co‐transmitters, which are released together with acetylcholine or noradrenaline.
Adaptation refers to the process by which the magnitude of the receptor potential decreases over time in response to a continuous stimulus
Peptide hormones such as oxytocin and anti-diuretic hormone are smaller than the protein hormones. They are each made of a short chain of amino acids
pericardial fluid a lubricating fluid secreted by the serous membrane.
Peripheral resistance means the resistance to blood flow imposed by the force of friction between blood and the walls of its vessels.
Species resistance refers to a phenomenon in which the genetic characteristics common to a particular kind of organism, or species, provide defense against certain pathogens
vestibule is located just inside the nasal cavity below the inferior meatus. The vestibule is lined with skin.
