What were the Anasazi people known for? The Anasazi people were known for building pueblos that were made of stone and clay.
What were totems used for? Totems where used to show unity in clans and tribes.
What was the iroquois league? The Iroquois league was an alliance founded by the Iroquois and surrounding tribes in the 1500's.
What was a potlatch? A potlatch was a ceremonial feast used to display rank and prosperity. The ceremony, gave food, drink, and gifts to the community.
What did all native americans believe the world had? Native americans believed that the world around them was filled with nature spirits.
How many hieroglyphs did the Mayans make? There were about 800 different glyphs that each represented words or phrases.
How many days were in the Mayan religious calendar? There were 260 days in the Mayans religious calendar.
How many codex's are there still around today? There are only 3 codex's around present day.
Why did the Mayans bloodlet? The Mayans believed that bloodletting would nourish the gods.
How did the Mayans decline? It is believed that the Mayan city states fought amongst one another and became weak and then were abolished by the spaniards.
Who where the triple alliance? The triple alliance were the three city states Tenochtitlán, Texcoco, and Tlacopan which later led to the formation of the Aztec empire.
What was one of the main resources used by the Aztec empire? Obsidian was one resource used by the Aztecs to create weapons and tools.
Who was Quetzalcoatl? Quetzalcoatl was a god worshiped by many ancient mexico civilizations.
Why did the Aztecs bloodlet? The Aztecs bloodlet because they wanted to make sure the sun god Huitzilopochtli came out the next morning.
Why was Montezuma II bad for the Aztec empire? Montezuma II tried to lessen the pressure on the provinces. But resentment continued to grow. Many Aztecs began to predict that terrible things were about to happen.
Where were the Incas originally located? The Incas were originally located in a high plateau of the Andes.
Who was Pachacuti? Pachacuti was an Inca ruler who with the help of his son gained land for the Incas because of his military force.
What was an ayllu? An ayllu was a small community or family group whose members worked together for the common good.
What was a mita? A mita requires that all able-bodied subjects work for the state a certain number of days each year.
Where is Machu Picchu located? Machu Picchu lies some 8,000 feet above sea level on a ridge between two mountain peaks.
