Predicate Adjective An adjective that follows the linking verb and describes the subject of the sentence.
Adjective Clause A subordinate clause the modifies a noun or a pronoun and the main cause of a complex sentence.
Adverb Clauses A subordinate clause that often modifies the verb and the main clause of a complex sentence.
Gerund A verb from ending in ing that can be used as a noun.
Direct Object It is a pronoun that receives the action of a verb or shows the result of the action.
Independent Clause Expresses a complete thought and can stand by itself as a sentence.
Indirect object A noun or pronoun that comes between the action verb and the direct object and tells us what or whom or for what or for whom the action of the verb is done.
Irregular verb Does not follow the pattern of a regular verb in terms of adding ED for the past and present participle.
Predicate Nominative A noun or pronoun that follows a linking verb and identifies or describes subject of the verb.
Preposition A word that shows relation between a noun or pronoun and the rest of the sentence.
Subordinate Clauses Does not express a complete thought.
Infinitives To + a Verb; Acts as the noun, adjective, or Adverb.
