What is imperialism? The conquering of foreign territories by powerful countries for natural resources and markets.
What is social darwinism? Theory that those who were fittest for survival enjoyed wealth and success and were considered superior to others. Stated Europeans were superior and had the duty to bring their successes to other countries
What happened at the Berlin Conference? A meeting between the European powers to divide and conquer parts of Africa without any African leaders present
What was the Sepoy Mutiny? An uprising of Indian soldiers after the grease used from pigs and cows were used on their rifles which they refused to use, as it was against their respective religions, Islam and Hinduism.
What was the Boxer rebellion? In 1900, a group against Westerners and Christians fought in a disorganized manner towards its objects of ridicule. They also disliked the weak Manchu Qing dynasty.
What government system led to the Russian Revolution in 1917? Czarist imperialist totalitarian government that was taken over by Marxist revolutionaries.

What was the Schlieffen Plan? Germany’s plan to face a war on two fronts. Quickly defeating France in the west and then fighting Russia.
What was the Zimmerman Telegram? The telegram that was intercepted that said Germany would help Mexico regain lost land if Mexico would ally with Germany.
What was the treaty that ended WWI? Treaty of Versailles
What impact did that treaty have on Germany? Treaty also punished Germany, lost territory, restricted military, and the war guilt clause- placed sole responsibility of the war on Germany. Germany had to pay reparations to the Allies.
Who created the League of Nations? Woodrow Wilson and his input to the Treaty of Versailles.

What was the Great Depression? Stocks were bought on margin and were too high due to wealthy Americans, bad loans for Europe and Europeans stopped buying American goods, farming prices fell due to oversupply of crops.
