P.E Study Guide

For the EOC test on P.E. Mostly just for my friends and I but it may help you.

What is Physical Benefits? Being able to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and improvement to do daily activities (Sleeping, life span, weight, physically wellness, etc. will improve as well)
What is Emotional and Mental Benefits? Improving your mental health, feeling stronger mentally, gaining the ability to deal with pressure, and overall feeling good about yourself
What is Social Benefits? Develop the ability to work with others (team work), allow to be with friends or meet people, etc, and build relationships.
What is Cognitive(thinking/brain function) Benefits? Physical activity that helps you learn better, improves your thinking and memory skills, and decreases the risk of brain diseases.
What is overall Wellness? The state or condition of being in good physical, mental/emotional, social health, etc.
What is Heat Illness? When body temperature rises to dangerous levels, sweating just isn't enough to cool down and your body temperature raises too high.
What are Heat Cramps? Muscle pains or spasms that happen during heavy exercise caused by electrolytes.
What is Heat Stroke? A life-threatening heat illness. Symptoms include dry skin, rapid, strong pulse and dizziness.
What is Heat Exhaustion? Feeling extremely tired and worn out due to the heat. Heavy sweating, rapid breathing and a fast, weak pulse are the symptoms
How do you prevent Heat Illness? Limiting time in the heat, trying to stay cool, and preventing dehydration by drinking water and other fluids
How do you know you are Dehydrated? Some signs are being thirsty, urinating less often than usual, dark-colored urine, dry skin, feeling tired, dizziness and fainting.
What is Cardiovascular Endurance? How well your heart and lungs can supply the oxygen you need from of low to high intensity
What is Muscular Strength? The amount of force you can put out or the amount of weight you can lift
What is Muscular Endurance? The ability to perform repetitive exercises against a force for an extended period of time
What is Flexibility? The range of motion of muscle and connective tissues at a joint or group of joints.
What is Body Composition? Percentages of fat, bone, water, and muscle in human bodies
What components do Soccer & Basketball exercise? Cardiovascular endurance, Muscular endurance, & Coordination, agility.
What is Agility? Ability to change directions quickly
What is Balance? Not falling
What is Coordination? Ability to work different body parts at one time
What is Power? Speed and strength together
What is Reaction Time? How quickly you can react to a stimulus
What is Speed? How fast you can move or move something
What are Warm-ups? Exercises that increases blood flow, temperature, flexibility and decreases the chance of joint and muscle injury. (Stretches are warm-ups)
What are Cool Downs? Breaks that allows the body enough time to gradually transition from intense movement to normal daily activity.
What's the connection between Cool Down and Recovery? Cool-down allows the body to recover to a state of rest after exercise
What is Peer Pressure? Influence that encourages others to change their attitudes, values, or behaviors.
What is Positive Peer Pressure? When you change your attitudes, values or behaviors in a way that is good for yourself or others
What is Negative Peer Pressure? When the pressure leads you to have behaviors that can hurt you or others
What does F.I.T.T stand for? Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type.
