What is the function of saltatory conduction? it is a type of action potential that sends impulses by "leaping" from node to node along the myelinated fiber.
What is another name for the parasympathetic nervous system? craniosacral nervous system
A lumbar puncture permits leaking of CSF from what space in the lumbar region of the vertebral column? subarachnoid space
where can deep dermis mechanoreceptors called lamellar corpuscles be located? in the hands, feet and joints.
Where does otosclerosis occur? What is the first sign of this disorder? structural irregularities in the stapes. Tinnitus (ringing in the ear).
How does the growth hormone affect metabolism? protein anabolism, lipid mobilization and catabolism, indirectly inhibits glucose metabolism, and increases blood glucose levels.
What is the function of the lymphatic nodes? To filter the blood for any foreign microorganisms and initiating phagocytosis to engulf and destroy them before entering the blood stream.
What happens during inhalation? volume increases and pressure decreases when we inhale, with contraction of intercostal muscles and the diaphragm, making the thoracic cavity larger.
When a person has low sodium, also known has hyponatremia, what are the possible outcomes? headache, confusion, seizures, coma and death.
What happens during respiratory regulation when our body is too acidic? excessive ventilation occurs to release as much CO2 as possible to decrease acidity in the body.
