What does dysfunction of the broca's area of the brain cause? expressive aphasia
What does a pt with expressive aphasia experience? pt can not speak but can understand what people around them are saying
What does dysfunction of the wernicke's area of the brain cause? receptive aphasia
What does a pt with receptive aphasia experience? pt can speak, but they do not understand language around them. - although they can talk their language will be illogical because they cannot understand what their saying
What is the frontal lobe responsible for? Voluntary movements, Memory, Emotion, Social judgment, Decision making, Reasoning, Aggression
What is the parietal lobe responsible for? Receiving and interpreting bodily sensations, Governing spacial awareness
What is the temporal lobe responsible for? Hearing, Smelling, Learning, Memory, Emotional behavior, Visual recognition
What is the occipital lobe responsible for? Analyzing and interpreting visual information
What causes an ischemic stroke? decrease blood flow to a certain area of the brain caused by a travelled blood clot
