Xarelto Classification: anticoagulant Uses: prevents clots from DVT/PE/Afib/hip and knee replacements RX monitor for excessive bleeding
Pyridium/Uristat/Uricalm Classification: Oral Urinary Analgesic Uses: relief of pain and burning from UTIs and such Pyridium is RX, others are OTC does not treat infection turns everything orange
Boniva Classification: Biphosphonate Uses: helps prevent bone breakdown RX helps menopausal women take w/ water do not eat/drink/lie down for 1 hour due to erosion of throat
Prevacid Classification: PPI Uses: gastric ulcers, GERD OTC/RX
Restoril Classification: Benzodiazepine Uses: treats insomnia (allows 7-8 hours of sleep) Schedule 4 only benzo used for insonia
Tenormin Classification: Beta Blocker Uses: hypertension, arrhythmias, angina RX can sometimes be used for anxiety but not common
Zofran Classification: antiemetic Uses: treats N/V after chemo/raditation/surgery RX ODT/film/IV/IM/tablet usually doesn't cause sleepiness like Phenergan
Zyrtec Classification: 2nd gen antihistamine (H1 blocker) Uses: seasonal allergies RX/OTC
Rheumatrex Classification: Antimetabolite, immunosuppresant Uses: slows cancer growth, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis RX high alerg drug due to such big dosage differences can decrease all blood cells (panzidopenia) can cause lymphoma in some people
