Tinnitus | Sensation of noises, such as ringing in the ears |
Gustation | Sense of taste |
Tactile | Sense of touch |
Accomodation | Adjustment of the curvature of the lens to allow for vision at various distances |
Amblyopia | Condition that occurs when visual activity is not the same in the two eyes in children. Disuse of the poorer eye will result in blindness if not corrected (LAZY EYE) |
Nyctalopia | Night blindness with the inability to see well in dim light or at night. Often due to lack of vitamin A, which is used to make the pigment needed for vision in dim light. |
Refraction | Bending of light rays as they pass through the eyes to focus on a specific point on the retina |
Hyperopia | Error of refraction in which light rays focus behind the retina and objects can be see clearly only when far away from the eye (FARSIGHTEDNESS) |
Myopia | Error of refraction in which light rays focus in front of the retina and objects can be seen clearly only when close to the eyes (NEARSIGHTEDNESS) |
Cataract | Opacity of the lens of the eye |
Conjuctivitis | Inflammation of the conjunctiva (PINK EYE) |

Enucleation | Surgical removal of the eyeball |
Proprioception | Awareness of posture, movement, and changes in equilibrium. Receptors are located in muscles, tendons, and joints. |
Vertigo | Illusion of movement. Usually caused by disturbances in the vestibular apparatus. (DIZZINESS or LIGHTHEADEDNESS) |
