Sterile Yellow | Blood Cultures X 2 8-10 mls blood each bottle aerobic (with oxygen) anaerobic (without oxygen) tests are usually stat 30 to 60 min |
Light Blue Top | ALWAYS 100% full tube draw PT - prothrombin time PTT - partial prothrombin time aPTT - evaluates how long for blood to clot Bleeding time test- ascertain platelet function D-dimer - rules out deep vein thrombosis (DVT) |
Red Top | Serum pregnancy test No additives blood will cure naturally 30-60 min |
Gold/Tiger/Marble Top | *FASTING TEST* Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP) Complete/Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) Serum Pregnancy Test - hCG will be in bloodstream Lipids and Cholesterol - circulatory |
Light Green Top | STAT Electrolytes "LYTES" hCg - plasma pregnancy test hCG qualitative - determines if hCG is present in bloodstream hCG quantitative - measures how much hCG is in bloodstream |
