Hadley cells Carry warm/moist air near the equator
Ferrel cells Carry cool/dry air near the mid-latitudes
Rain Shadow Moist air near an ocean is orographically lifted. The other side of the mountain range is typically dry
Growing Season The period of time with enough warmth and moisture for plants to grow
Sea Level The height of the surface of the Oceans
Thermocline The layer of the ocean that separates cold nutrient dense water and warm nutrient poor water
Current A typical direction of flow for water based on temperature, salinity, and wind
Gyres Currents that make up larger circulation patterns of water
Upwelling Upward movement of deeper water due to circulation of surface winds
El Nino Trade winds are weaker, leads to drought in North America
La Nina Trade winds are stronger, leads to storms in North America
