Основи — … це гідрати основних оксидів.
Онови за звичайних умов є … твердими речовинами, це йонні сполуки, які складаються з іона металічного елемента (або йона амонію) і з одної або декількох гідроксогруп ОН⁻.
Загальна формула основ —... Ме(ОН)ₓ, де Me — металічний елемент, ₓ — валентність металічного елемента.
З погляду теорії електролітичної дисоціації, основи … це електроліти, які дисоціюють з утворенням катіона металічного елемента (або йона амонію) і гідроксид-іонів. Ва(ОН)₂ → Ва²⁺ + 2ОН⁻
Безводні основи — … це тверді речовини, крім амоній гідроксиду NH₄OH (NH₃ · Н₂O), який існує лише у водному розчині.
Основа + Кислотний оксид → … Ca(OH)₂ + CO₂ → CaCO₃ + H₂O Сіль та Вода.
Основа + Кислота → … (Реакція нейтралізації) Mg(OH)₂ + H₂SO₄ → MgSO₄+ 2H₂O Сіль + Вода
Основа + Кисла сіль → … NaOH + NaHSO₄ →Na₂SO₄ + H₂O Сіль + Вода. Реакція протікає аналогічно до Реакції нейтралізації
Основа + Амфотерний оксид → … (При нагріванні) KOH + Al(OH)₃ → KAlO₂ + 2H₂O Сіль + Вода.
Основа + Амфотерний оксид → … (У розчині) 2NaOH + ZnO + H₂O→ Na₂[Zn(OH)₄] Основа + Амфотерний гідроксид → … (При нагріванні) KOH + Al(OH)₃ → KAlO₂ + 2H₂O
Основа + Амфотерний гідроксид → … (У розчині) 2NaOH + Zn(OH)₂ → Na₂[Zn(OH)₄] Комплексна сіль.
Основа + Сіль → … KOH + FeCl₂ → Fe(OH)₂↓ + 2KCl Сіль та нерозчинна або слабка основа. Сильні основи витісняють із солей слабкі або випадає осад
Виняток: У реакціях за наявності надлишку лугу амфотерний гідроксид розчиняється … ZnSO₄ + 4NaOH (надл.) → Na₂[Zn(OH)₄] + Na₂SO₄ AlCl₃ + 6NaOH (надл.) → Na₃[Al(OH)₆] + 3NaCl з утворенням Комплексних Солей.
