Condyle large, smooth, rounded articulating oval structure

alveolus deep pit or socket in the maxillae or mandible
Fossa flattened or shallow depression
Sulcus narrow groove
Crest Narrow ridge of bone; usually prominent
Epicondyle projection adjacent to a condyle
Line low ridge
process any marked bony prominence
ramus angular extension of a bone relative to the rest of the structure
spine sharp, slender, often pointed process
Trochanter massive, rough projection found only on the femur
Tubercle small rounded projection
Tuberosity large rough projection
Canal (meatus) passageway through a bone
Fissure Narrow, slitlike opening through bone
Foramen Round or oval opening through a bone
Sinus cavity/hollow space within a bone
Articulating surfaces condyle, facet, head, trochlea
Depressions alveolus, fossa, sulcus
Projections for tendon and ligament attachment crest, epicondyle, line, process, ramus, spine, trochanter, tubercle, tuberosity
Opening and spaces canal, fissure, foramen, sinus
