canyon a narrow landform with steep sides carved out by wind and water (river erosion)
delta a triangular or fan-shaped landform at the mouth of a river from the deposition of sediment
deposition the dropping of sediment in a new location
decomposition the process of rotting; decay
erosion the movement of sediment from one place to another by wind, water, or ice
frost wedging a type of weathering that occurs when water trapped in cracks and pores of rocks repeatedly freezes and melts
glacier a large, slowly moving mass of ice
isthmus a narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger pieces of land
landform a feature on Earth's surface
landslide the sliding down of a mass of earth or rock from a mountain or cliff
mesa an isolated hill with steep sides and a flat top
moraine piles or hills of sediment deposited by glaciers
peninsula a piece of land that is almost surrounded by water, but is connected to land on one side
sand dune a large hill or mound of sand formed by wind erosion and deposition
sediment small pieces of rock
u-shaped valley a landform created by weathering and erosion of rock as a glacier moves down a mountain
weathering the breaking down of larger rocks into smaller pieces called sediment
