Chemical Bonds

Reactive Elements with unfilled valence shells
How do elements become stable by gaining or losing e- and filling the valence shell
Inert Elements without active chemical properties(valence shells already full)
Molecule two or more atoms that are the same or different Ex: O2 or H2O
Molecular Formula how molecules are written H2O - 2 hydrogen 1 oxygen
Compound two or more different atoms bonded together ex CO2
Molecular weight of a compound Sum of all the atomic weights of its component atoms
Bond Weak or strong electrical attraction that holds atoms in the same vicinity
3 Bonds Ionic, Covalent, Hydrogen
Ionic Bonds Usually p+ and e- are equal, atom is electrically neutral
