Korean Particles

TermDefinition
N만 Means “only” or “Just” . 만 can replace subject (이/가. 는/은) and Object (를/을) particles or be used with them. 만 must be placed after all other particles. 삼 씨만(이) 대학교에 입학했어요. 릴리 씨에게만 선물을 줬어요.
N도 Means “also” or “too”: BTS을 좋아하고 TXT도 좋아해요.
N에게/한테 Indicates (living) recipient. Non living recipient uses 에. If you add 서 to 에게/한테 it means you are the recipient . 에게 is formal. : 여자 친구한테 꽃을 줘요. 여자 친구가 저한테서 음식을 사요.
N의 Show possession: 이것은 지우 씨의 책이예요.
N에 Expresses time, direction, or Location: 친구가 한국에 와요. 소파가 위에 개가 있어요. 토요일에 마나요.
N와/과, 하고, (이)랑 These all mean “and”. If you add 같이 it changes the meaning to “with”. 와/과=Written 하고/ (이)랑=Spoken: 바나나하고 딸기를 먹었어요. 친구랑 같이 서을에 갈 거예요.
N이/가 Designates subject : 날씨가 주워요
N은/는 Explains the main topic, refers to mentioned topic , or used when comparing and contrasting: 저는 19살이예요. 저는 김치 먹았요. 김치는 좋아해요. 야구는 촣아하지만 축구는 안 좋아해요.
N박에 “ only “or “ nothing but” in English. Must be before a negative form. Can NOT be followed by 아니다. 냉장고에 우유밖에 없어요.
N(으)로 1. Expresses direction toward a place. 2. Expresses means of transport, other means, tools and materials used. 오른쪽으로 가세요. 은행이 나와요. 부산에 기차로 갈 거예요. 가위로 장이 잘라요. 밀가루로 빵을 만들어요.
N(이)니 (1) One of the items listed will be chosen “ this or that”. With adj/v use 거나. Can be used with particle bust is more natural alone: 가방이나 신팔을 살거예요. 토요일(에)이나 일요일에 운동해요.
N(이)나 (2) Indicates a higher amount than expected or what is usually considered normal. “ no less than” or “as many as” in. Eng: 맥주를 10 병이나 마셨어요. 차 5 대나 있어요.
N처럼, 같이 Expresses action or thing that appears the same or similar to preceding thing. “ like “ or “ as” in eng: 저의 남자 친구가 배우처럼 잘생겼어요.
N쯤 Denotes number, quantity, and time . “About” or “around” in eng: 1시쯤 만날 거예요. 요즘 토마토가 3전원쯤 해요
N마다 It’s time nouns it expresses repetition ( every or once every in English.) Also indicates all or everyone of something with no exceptions. 오 분마다 가차가 와요. 점심시간에 식당마다 자리가 없어요.
N보다 Comparison. “More than “ or “…er than”. 제주도가 서을보다 더 따뜻해요. 딸기가 사과보다 더 좋아해요.
