What do self-management skills include? Emotional awareness, self-regulation, time management, stress management, and self motivation
Examples of primary emotions Joy, sadness anger, fear, distress, and surprise
Examples of secondary emotions Love, embarrassment, pride, guilt, and jealousy
What are the skills to be able to self-regulate? Initiative organization accountability self-discipline
What is emotional intellegence? The ability to monitor feelings and emotions, to discriminate among these feelings and emotions, and to use this information to guide thinking and action.
What do skills for time management include? Using organizational tools such as to do lists, planners, and reminders Adapting to change
What are two general sills needed to reduce stress? The ability to use self-management skills and tools for time management The ability to assess common stressors and time-wasting tasks
What is stress hardiness? Tolerance developed from dealing with stress in a proficient, healthy manner
What are characteristics of self-motivation? Vision, enthusiasm, self-confidence, commitment to personal goals, initiative, and optimism.
What is the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation? Extrinsic motivation is driven by outside rewards (praise, money, avoiding punishment) Intrinsic motivation is based on internal drives (autonomy, need for achievement, interest).
