Side affects/hazards of Beta-agonist bronchodilators medications are.. Tremors, shakes, quivering Tachycardia Nausea Headache Hypertension/Hypotension
If side affects occur what should you do? Stop Therapy Notify the nurse and/or doctor Chart results
If bronchospasm / wheezing persists what should you do? 1st. Increase dosage 2nd. Increase frequency
Anticholinergics (Parsympatholytics) These drugs work against the bronchoconstriction caused by the parasympathetic nervous system (Back Door Bronchodilators)
What's are 2 common Anticholinergic medications? Ipratropium bromide (Atrovent) Tiotropium bromide (Spiriva)
What other medication can you give a Anticholinergic with? SABA, such as Albuterol if bronchospasm persists
When is theophylline (aminophylline) used? Apneic Episodes in infants/newborns
Corticosteroids are... Anti-inflammatory agents with direct and indirect broncho dilating effects
What are corticosteroids are indicated for what patients? COPD & Asthma
What are 3 common corticosteroids? Fluticasone (Flovent) Beclomethasone (Beclovent, Qvar, Vanceril) Budesonide (Pulmicort)
