Mr. Holden Unit 4

Mr. Holdens Unit 4 Stoichiometry Test

TermDefinition
A chemical equation represents? A symbolic representation of a chemical reaction.
A(aq)+B(aq)--->AB(s) A and B are the ____, (aq) is the____ and AB is the ____. Reactants, Yield, Products
Phase state symbols represent what? They represent the state of matter the reactant/product is in.
(g) is what? Gas
(s) is what? Solid
(L) is what, also what is(L) most often? Liquid, most often water BUT not always.
Single displacement is? One element displacing another in a compound. For example Al +Fe2O3--->Fe+Al2O3(element + compound| element + compound)
Double displacement is? 2 elements in different compounts switching places. (compound + compound | compound + compound.)
Decomposition is? 1 compound breaks down into 2 or more smaller compounds/elements.
Synthesis is? 2 or more substances combine to form a more complex compound. (compound/element + compound/element -----> compound)
Combustion is? Exothermic reaction that realeases heat requires an O2 in the reactants. (Element/Compound +O2---> oxide compund)
Stoichiometry is? The study of the amounts of substances involved in a chemical reaction.
Limiting Reactant is the? Reactant that limits how much product can be formed(lesser quantity)
Experimental Yield? The amount of product that forms when the reaciton is carried out in the lab(must be given to you)
Theoretical Yield? The amount of product calculated to be formed using Stoichiometry.
What causes the Experimental yield to be < then the theoretical other substances contaminating the substance.
Percent Yield is? Experimental/Theoretical x 100

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
